Pimp MY ride
So, the check is now literally in the mail for me to pay off the rest of the balance owed on my first major purchase: my car. And that’s just one little bit of debt I’ll be erasing; next stop: student loan! Say something nice about my car (especially now that it’s my car) and maybe I’ll buy you a drink.

A social worker finally snaps
Yet another story stolen from reddit, this time a craigslist posting:
http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/sfo/65806895.html
I mean, I know people can do some crazy, stupid, inhumane things, but I can’t imagine any of the things that this person describes actually happening. As a result it’s made me about a thousand times more appreciative of social workers and a thousand times more angry at the social misfits described in the story and those of the same ilk.
PS - I’ll try not to post only stuff that is links from elsewhere but I had to share this

More culinary delight
Stolen from reddit:

This came from quite possibly the worst translated menu ever. The article doesn’t state where the restaurant was but it doesn’t sound like it was in China and that the translations were merely provided as a “courtesy”…

Icewine is more than fine!
You may have read this over on Xanga, but Danny is encouraging me to post here more often, and since this is something special he and I shared, I will post about it here as well.
I am in love with Canada. But not because it was such a great place. Because of the icewine. I just shared a small (200 mL) bottle with Danny and it was incredible. Icewine is, according to the wikipedia entry:
“a type of dessert wine produced from grapes that have been frozen. The sugars and other dissolved solids do not freeze, but the water does, so the result is an unusually concentrated, often very sweet wine. The effect is comparable to the freeze distillation that was traditionally used to make applejack and similar beverages, but in the case of ice wines, the freezing happens before the fermentation, not afterwards. Unlike other dessert wines (such as Sauternes, Beerenauslese, or Trockenbeerenauslese), grapes for ice wine tend not to be affected by Botrytis cinerea or Noble Rot. This gives ice wine its characteristic of refreshing sweetness balanced by high acidity. When the grapes are free of Botrytis, they are said to have come in “clean.”‘
In other words, YUMMY. And also, hella expensive. In the States you can’t get it for less than about $50 a bottle. But its made in Canada, so while I was there I went to the nearest LCBO, their one-on-every-corner liquor store, and bought a few $25 bottles from Lakeview Cellars, because I couldn’t find the winery Danny had suggested. I wish I had bought the maximum I was allowed to import home (6) instead of just the 4, because this stuff is amazing. It’s kind of syrupy, but not heavy, and it’s like a candied white wine. I would love to savor this as I unwound in front of a fire or a really good movie. 200 mL just wasn’t enough! It was practically unfair! I now have 3 bottles left which I will guard with my life and save for only the most special occasions, like my wedding or getting a new puppy.

Take that, airport security
So if you don’t like Homeland Security snooping through your undies you can now wrap your luggage in Fourth Amendment luggage tape, seen here:

How cool is that? My favorite part is:
Now, if they want to search your stuff, they have to literally slice the 4th amendment in half in order to do it.
Now, I don’t have any flight plans in the near future, but to those of you who do …

Capitalization is important

College Boyz
I did my focus group last night. It was amazingly fun talking to college kids and it made me soooo wish to be back there. I found myself forgetting that I am 3 years out already. Checking out the college boys was fun until I realized good lord, I am so much older than they are! They look the same to me. Will they always look the same? Will I always look this young? The airline folks always ask if I am 18 or under. I could easily pass for a college kid. But I am not anymore. I am a grown up. Now I am the one running the focus groups. WOW.
Yes, this is the site I maintain with the love of my life but I can still talk about looking at other boys, right Danny? You, however, can’t talk about other girls at all ![]()

Somebody Please Comment
Just so we can see that it’s working and it’s not a lame test comment from Danny.
I was reading the latest Time magazine and was fascinated by an article about lethal injection and the involvement of doctors. Does administering the deadly drug cocktail violate the Hippocratic oath, or does it violate the oath to not step in to help ease the pain of a patient who is facing imminent death?
